How do I turn my Hearth® Panel into a sauna?Updated 2 months ago
Any closet or enclosure can transition into a full sauna with your Hearth® Infrared Sauna Panel and there are two primary ways to do it:
- If want to go full SaunaSpace Sauna, you will need to purchase the Sauna Enclosure Kit and a Sauna Stool to create the equivalent of FireLight® Sauna.
- If you would like to create your own sauna, you will need to build an enclosed space where you can sit or stand 18 inches from the panel with room to rotate during your session. We recommend using natural materials to avoid off-gassing harmful chemicals.
Recommended setup: Hearth Pedestal and Sauna Stool with your Hearth Infrared Sauna Panel to target your core. Create 18 to 30 inches of clearance between the stool and the front of the panel (the Hearth panel has a depth of 9in).
Hanging setup: Use the carrying handle to hang your panel on the wall with proper anchoring hardware. This means the hardware must be able to support at least 25 lbs.(Hooks, Rope, ect..)
Whichever way you decide to move forward with, there are some considerations to be taken into account:
- Due to variables beyond our control, customers experience different heating when using the Hearth® Infrared Sauna Panel in their own environment. For use as a sauna heater, the Hearth® Infrared Sauna Quartet Panel heats a volume of 60-70 cubic feet, similar to the volume of our Sauna Enclosures. Use this easy calculator to determine the cubic footage of your space: https://www.thecalculatorsite.com/misc/cubic-feet-calculator.php
- Ambient air temperature must be above 100 °F (37.8 °C) during a sauna session. If the volume is large, the central heat or a space heater can be used to help achieve the ambient temperature air requirement. Some ventilation is OK, as long as you can maintain the air temperature.
- You run the risk of chemical off-gassing from existing materials in your space. SaunaSpace® can not speak to what happens to materials we do not use. You have to reach out to the specific manufacturer for understanding of effects to their materials.
- The power cord that attaches to the Hearth panel is 15 ft. long and plugs into a standard 3 prong outlet.
- All wood elements are fully untreated solid basswood, do not use in humid or wet areas.
- We suggest one Hearth® Infrared Sauna Quartet Panel and one Hearth® Infrared Sauna Trio Panel per user. If you require higher ambient air temperature a space heater can be used. Note that two Hearth® Infrared Sauna Quartet Panel uses 2000W = 16.8A on 120V and this requires a dedicated 20A circuit. Extra panels should be placed on the same wall, one above the other; do not 'sandwich' yourself between two panels.
- An enclosure is required for full body sweating. You need an ambient air temperature between 100-120°F (38-49°C) to facilitate sweating, this is the reason for an enclosure. The FireLight® Sauna Enclosure Kit is the ideal volume, being spacious and also space-efficient.
- All panels are designed to be used Vertically, do not place the panel with bulbs pointing down.
