Can children under the age of 5 make use of the saunas?Updated a month ago
Under age six, avoid sauna use. Above the age of six the best rule of thumb for session length is one minute per year of age.
The only real danger here is overuse, such that the user’s body is dangerously overheated (heat stroke risk). In a sauna, you want to induce a hyperthermic state, so we heat up the internal temperature a few degrees for a period of minutes but never beyond 102°F (38°C) core body temp. The hazard is that small children/babies have a higher surface-to-volume ratio than adult bodies, so they heat up much faster. Therefore, their session should have constant supervision with duration accordingly limited by their age.
